Tour of the alps live

The Tour of the Alps is an Italian and Austrian cycling stage race held in northern Italy in the Trentino-Alto Adige region and in the state of Tyrol in southern Austria in April.
Until 2016 the race was called Giro del Trentino[1]as it was a race organized in Italy and although some stages finished in Austrian territory, for 2017 the race organizers decide to deepen the collaboration with their neighbors in the state of Tyrol, so the race changes its name to the Tour of the Alps.[2] The race is also known as the Tour of the Alps[2].
Many cyclists use this race as preparation for the Giro d’Italia, which takes place in May. It is currently contested over five stages. The race leader is identified with a fuchsia jersey: .

Tour of the alps stage 2

During this week, from April 19 to 23, the 44th edition of the «Tour of the Alps», historically Giro del Trentino and renamed in 2017 to cover more terrain, with 5 stages in Euroregion of Tirol-Alto Adige-Trentino, between Austria and northern Italy, having the UCI category 2.Pro, being the 3rd most important stage race in the country, only surpassed by the Giro d’Italia and Tirreno Adriatico. The race returns after its absence in 2020, when it was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. And it does so with a very interesting route, almost identical to the planned one, and a large participation, especially of the top riders.
However, that does not mean that the routes were exaggeratedly hard, at least until 2010, since there were also stages with low mountain passes or far from the finish line, favorable for breakaways and short sprints. In addition, the organizers again programmed time trials, a type of stage that from 1988 to 2007 seemed to be banned in the race (only included in the 2000 edition). This made for a demanding route, with a special focus on Alpe di Pampeago, but at the same time balanced, with attractions on all the days and giving possibilities to riders of different characteristics. On the negative side, the order of the stages, which in the 2010 edition did not allow them to be used to their full potential.
